Mission

Our mission at CogniTutor is to help students learn in a smarter way, becoming educationally independent so they won’t need a tutor in the future! Beyond simply providing materials, we teach students to think critically, improve reading comprehension, develop memory strategies, strengthen test-taking skills, and overcome their academic weaknesses.

How We Started

Loni Lebanoff, CEO and Founder, was independently tutoring when schools and government organizations took notice because her students were improving so much! Her methods of teaching students how to learn on their own helped them improve faster than students with tutoring companies.

Her students were getting into college when they never thought possible, with one of her greatest accomplishments being a student who overcame a brain injury to receive an A in college! Wanting to help more students in need, CogniTutor was born!

Our Students

99% of CogniTutor’s students are considered to be at-risk, meaning they might be experiencing homelessness, foster care, or learning disabilities!

We partner with nonprofits, scholarships, and governmental organizations to provide funded tutoring that changes lives.

We have worked with students from 3-year-olds to 70-year-olds on everything from piano and coding to algebra 2 and ACT prep! Students at all levels have benefitted from our effective and unique techniques.

Meet Our Founder

Loni Lebanoff founded CogniTutor with a simple mission: help millions of students Learn to Learn! Her international teaching experience spans from Vietnamese doctors to Italian children and Canadian piano students. While studying cutting-edge memory and cognition research, Loni embodies lifelong learning through diverse artistic pursuits!

Her innovative teaching methods—which helped her achieve a perfect ACT score—form CogniTutor’s foundation. “Our enthusiastic instructors care deeply about students. By teaching them how to learn, we support their academic careers and lifelong success!” CogniTutor is a minority woman-owned business!
